December 2011
Mr. Kazuyoshi Inoue, Kyoshi 7 dan, is in town till December 18th. Practice with him wherever he practices during his stay. He is super good. He is kind enough to come to Wahiawa Kendo Club dojo on December 7th.

Hawaii Team tied with Vancouver Team in Championship match in Pacific Northwest Kendo Federation Tournament on November 5th in Kent, Washington. Though lost in ippon shobu between representatives, we did very well. Seth Harris came in 3rd in 4 dan and above division. Yusuke Suzuki was the champion, Braxton Fukutomi and James Okada were 3rd in 3 dan division. Ken Sato was one of best 8 in 3 dan division. Others did well, though did not land on trophies. There were 230 participants.
Hawaii Kendo Federation 1 kyu and dan examination is on Sunday, December 11th at Kaimuki Gym. From our dojo, Ken Sato is challenging for 4 dan. It is a good idea to come and watch the procedure if you are planning to take the examination in near future.
Christmas Day and New Year Day will fall on Sunday. There will be no Kaimuki practices on those days. You may enjoy Holidays with your family and friends. You can practice hard to shed off those high calorie intakes at later dates.

50th Anniversary Steveston Kendo Club Tournament in Canada is on Saturday, February 11th. Mark your calendar if you are planning to participate.
Mr. Seth Harris told me, "Konishi Sensei worn me out spiritually. Furutani Sensei worn me out physically. And, Teshima Sensei worn me out mentally." When you were beginners and Senseis trained you hard and vigorously. You get unforgettable memories. Later those memories may become fond memories. Enjoy Kendo while practicing hard.
