January 2010

Happy New Year! Hope this year is a meaningful and prosperous year for you.

No Kenkyu Kai practive this month because 1st Friday is January 1st, a holiday.

Mr. Seiichiro Nagasaku, Kyoshi 7 dan, from Tokyo visited Honolulu dojos in December. His instruction was very good. I am hoping that he can ne a repeat visitor from Japan.

Mr. and Mrs. Hiroshi Sasaki and two lady kenshis from Akita Prefecture will be in Hawaii from Jan. 4th till 8th. I am inviting them to our club on Wednesday, Jan. 6th. You may come and join our practice.

Mr. Takeshi Kudo, kyoshi 8 dan from Tokyo, will be in Honolulu from Jan. 11th till mid-March. He plans to visit all dojos that invite him. We hope that he can visit our club often and teach us. He is one of great senseis. When he had knee problem, rather than stopping practives completely, he made it an opportunity to do kendo with ayumiashi.

We will be collecting Club dues this month. As I mention every year, two good supports you can do to the organizations you belong to are to pay dues and to join the activities.

Kendo has to be beautiful. Some people who have great athletic abilities can bend their bodies to strike opponents. If a strike meets criteria of yuko datotsu, it is going to be an ippon. However, kendo pursuers should learm to strike with proper postures. If your postures and foot works are good, your kendo looks beautiful and ou will get less injury. Less injury will make kendo as your life long endeavor.
