Mililani dojo practice on Monday, September 1st is cancelled due to Labor Day Holiday.
Kenkyu kai Practice is at JCCH on Friday, September 5th from 7:30PM.
Our club is in charge of Sunday Honbu dojo practices in September. I will do our usual fundamental practices there.
Our yearly fund raise of Zippy’s Chili sale is on now. They raised the price to $7 per a ticket. We need your help for buying and selling tickets for our club.
Hawaii State Tournament will be held in Hilo on Saturday, November 8th. 1 kyu and dan examination will be next day, Sunday, November 9th in Hilo . Mark your calendar.
Mr. Kazuyoshi Inoue, Kyoshi 7 dan from Fukuoka , will visit us from October 27th till November 14th in conjunction with Hawaii State Tournament and dan examination.
Pacific Northwest Kendo Federation Tournament will be on Saturday, November 15th in Kent , Washington . Some of us will be participating though the cost of doing so is getting higher and higher.
Those of you who want to participate in Steveston Kendo Tournament are reminded to practice hard for it. The date is always on 2nd Saturday in February. It falls on Valentines day next year.
Recently I noticed Kenshikan dojo practice and Mr. Yoshinaga were featured in Kaiser Permanente advertisement in TV, KGMB9. I do not know whose idea was that to put kendo in the advertisement of a hospital. They were promoting good health. Mr. Shigeo Yoshinaga was the prime example of maintaining good health. At age of 91, he still oversees practices. According to Mrs. Yoshinaga, his energy level gets much higher at the dojo than at home. Anyway, it is a good, free advertisement for kendo.
